The 2009–10 Capitals won the franchise’s first-ever Presidents’ Trophy for the league’s best record during the regular season. The Capitals played home games at the Capital Centre from 1974–1997, but the team moved their home hockey rink to the new Verizon Center in Washington’s Chinatown neighborhood.
